Integrated BI functions
Customized detail, summary and data warehouse reports
One of the most important integrated (embedded) functions in all IRI data management products is report generation.
„The opportunity is to reduce the cost of storing and managing multiple near-copies of data by using a more sophisticated, highly integrated and fast data delivery environment.“ - Dr. Barry Devlin, 9sight Consulting
Reporting typically takes place via SortCL programs in the IRI Voracity platform or the product IRI CoSort. Its users who perform big data transformations can also create one or more custom detail and summary reports in the same job script and I/O pass, i.e. they run BI directly with ETL. And since IRI NextForm (data/DB migration), IRI FieldShield (data masking) and IRI RowGen (test data) also use SortCL capabilities, they too can create many of the same types of reports using the same metadata, while they also do what they do.
Structured data sources (database or flat file) are just as well supported as many forms of semi and unstructured data. There is no limit to the number of sources or destinations. See this list the supported data sources and this diagram, which characterizes the data flow.
Define report specifications in a text editor or wizard in the Eclipse GUI for all IRI software, IRI Workbench. Executing reports via the command line, batch scripts, the GUI or applications (as a system or API call)
The advantages of integrated BI
Get reports with powerful data integration, data migration, data masking and test data generation at the same time by formatting your targets in the same job script and I/O pass.
Get most of the same data manipulation and reporting features of SQL and ICE-TOOL, but with more speed, simplicity and interoperability. Simultaneously visualize analyzed data with BIRT or Splunk and prepare data for cubes or other BI and analysis tools.
What else?
- high speed in the volume, which allows a flying what-if-integration through to iterations of reports
- Support for any number of sources and destinations
- Flexibility in adapting multi-target and layout
- Extensive data transformation (sorting, joining, aggregating, cross-calculation, pivot, etc.) and formatting functions
- Creation in the same job script and I/O pass with transformation, migration and/or field protection
- syntactic simplification, even for complex derived fields and statistical functions
- Functional expandability (use of Boost libraries for linear regression, etc.)
- Graphical order creation and interactive editing of order scripts
- Platform portability for script design and execution
- Report on version control and team sharing in Eclipse
What other reports can I create?
In addition to detailed and summarized reports, you can:
- Pivot transformations for reassignment and de/normalization of data
- Reports for change data entry (CDC)
- Customer data integration (CDI) and segmentation
- Predictive graphical representations using fuzzy lookup logic, conditions and regressions
- Clickstream analysis (Data Webhouse)
- Fixed or streaming IoT device data aggregates
- Reports on slowly changing dimensions (SCD)
And if I need more skills?
If additional fumigation is used:
- Advanced data visualization and drill-down
- Dashboards and knowledge performance indicators (KPI)
- Knowledge management or knowledge mapping
- Data mining and predictive analytics
Activities in the IRI software help Analysis and BI tools from third-party providers to visualize your data faster. Or run IRI data preparation jobs seamlessly with BIRT reports which you can use in the Eclipse-based IRI Workbench GUI design.
* IRI's FieldShield (data masking), NextForm (data migration), and RowGen (test data generation) products are spin-offs of the CoSort SortCL program and include functionality in the Voracity platform. Because of this, they can create the same types of custom report layouts.
