However, with platform consolidation in recent years, newer versions of CoSort only support the most popular subset of the aforementioned systems. Specifically, CoSort 10.5 is available for Windows, x86 and z/Linux, AIX (Power), HP-UX (PA-RISC and ia64), and Solaris (Sparc and x86). CoSort 11 is currently only available for Windows and x86 Linux.

CoSort for Linux runs on 32- and 64-bit Intel x86 and Itanium hardware, and is certified for Oracle Linux, Red Hat Ready (for RHEL), and Novell YES! for SLES. CoSort for Linux also runs on other chipsets. IBM Chiphopper certified Linux platforms include IBM eServer x, i, p and z/Series (Mainframe). Other portings include SLES (SuSE) 8-12 on IBM POWER 5-10 chips and Linux variants such as AsianUX, CentOS, Debian, Fedora Core, Gentoo, Mandrake, Oracle Linux, and Ubuntu.

CoSort for Windows Runs on NT, XP, 7, 8, 10, and 11, as well as 2000/3/8/10/12/16/19/22 Server.

CoSort for virtual machines runs on VMware, IBM KVM (PureSystems), and similar environments that support the aforementioned operating systems.

Licensing and support

CoSort can be obtained via an authorized IRI reseller with a formal quote. Your quote reflects the license fees, typically a one-time charge for perpetual use (i.e., capital expenditure, not lease) per named host, which adequately mirrors the performance benefits derived from the onboard resources of each licensed system.

The reason for this pricing model is that the value of CoSort (besides its functionality) lies primarily in its speed with large job volumes. IRI customers prefer to correlate CoSort pricing with the individual nodes built to support similar jobs. For this reason, pricing is based on the OEM computer's model number or, if generic, on inherent system capacity (primarily RAM, then cores, then storage).

The license fees range from €7,500 to €75,000. Additional CPU cores (threads) that you wish to license for CoSort use will slightly increase the base license fee.

IRI offers discounts for: additional licenses purchased at the same time, certified disaster recovery, qualified nonprofit organizations, and ISV term licenses. Maintenance, including new versions and technical support, is free for the first year after licensing. After that, maintenance can be renewed for 20% of the paid license fee; details can be found here.

support and the licensed (OpEx) usage of CoSort are included in the subscriptions of the IRI Voracity „Total Data Management“ platform. Voracity supports CoSort and all its facilities within Eclipse, playing additional roles in Big Data Management, DW/BI architecture, and Data Governance. Learn more about the Voracity Prices.
