IRI DarkShield uses the Eclipse™-based IRI Workbench IDE for data classification and discovery, the configuration and execution of masking jobs, and job verification. An API is also required on the same or a different (remote) platform.
Compatible operating systems, on-premises or in the cloud, are Windows, Linux, and macOS. If you need the DarkShield backend libraries on a different operating system, please let us know.
The performance of DarkShield depends on the data volume and complexity; for the Workbench and API libraries, a minimum of 4 GB of RAM and 2 physical or virtual cores are recommended.
Licensing and Support Information
IRI DarkShield GUI and API instances are licensed per hostname, meaning where the masking jobs run. Discounts are available for multiple nodes used for development or production (e.g., in a high-volume, load-balanced scenario). Read this FAQ to consider your deployment/licensing requirements.
DarkShield licenses and support are available directly from IRI or through authorized representatives worldwide in one of three variants:
1. Standalone, for unlimited use. For file or image sources, the initial DarkShield hostname license fee ranges from €7,500 to €75,000, depending on the estimated number of files or documents you wish to search and/or mask (on average per year). This license fee may be adjusted upon renewal of support. If you use DarkShield for relational or NoSQL database collections instead, the same pricing applies as for IRI FieldShield. If you need DarkShield for both files and databases, the price is the higher of the FieldShield price or the price for your maximum document scope. In this CapEx licensing model, DarkShield support (technical assistance, bug fixes, and new versions) is free for the first year and is billed at 20 % of the license fee in subsequent years.
2. Bundled and discounted with one or more other products of the IRI Data Governance Suite or IRI Data Management Suite for perpetual use. Here, too, the perpetual use licenses include the first year of maintenance.
3. Free as part of an IRI Voracity data management platform subscription (OpEx), which also includes support, along with IRI FieldShield, IRI CellShield EE, IRI RowGen, IRI CoSort, etc. Five execution hostnames are included in the first pricing tier.
