Data and Information Management
Real-time enforcement of data governance policies
Challenges
In the data warehouse and its related activities, operational data is often manipulated and changed. For example, records can be added, deleted, or modified. Records and fields that appear in one set of reports may not appear in another file where they belong (or vice versa), or the fields may have different attributes or values.
To protect privacy, sensitive data, authorized recipients, and access rights, users and activities related to data assets must be identified and monitored. Data management and IT staff rely on this data and must simultaneously manage and track these data issues. Many of the tools and systems developed for this purpose today are complex, expensive, and differ from production data processing.
Solutions
The IRI software supports you in implementing and maintaining data management rules across a variety of data management lifecycle operations, including data integration, data masking, and daily database transactions.
The logged data processing, protection, presentation, and prototyping functions in Voracity or its individual products (such as IRI CoSort or IRI FieldShield) support all data problem analyses and accountability activities from the same Eclipse GUI, IRI Workbench.
Options such as:
Data Discovery, Classification, and Profiling
Data Validation and Cleaning
Data masking and encryption
Data Transformation and Reporting
Filtering Data and Capturing Change Data
Metadata and Master Data Management
Runtime audits and version control
can be all integral components of IRI jobs. Clean and secure data as you transform and visualize it. Review and manage jobs within the same graphical IDE where you design and execute them.
In real-time environments, where database logins and SQL execution attempts (or injection attempts) are performed, IRI FieldShield-User also different dynamic data masking (DDM) techniques to process, encrypt, or otherwise protect data while it is in motion.
The IRI software makes it easy for data and information officers to collaborate with DBAs, ETL architects, business users, and report designers. But interestingly, it allows you to integrate data management into your processes and apply RBACs at different levels. For more information on setting up and enforcing RBACs in IRI environments, please see here.
