The HIPAA Compliance Course is a three-hour, five-part program that covers de-identification and risk scoring processes applied to a set of structured PHI data that contain key and quasi-identifiers. After application, we address compliance review and other topics such as certification, breach insurance, and defense of breach claims.
Course Overview
PHI Investigation & De-ID
Description: Use the one presented under Eclipse™ IRI FieldShield-Software to the Data determination (Multi-method search, profiling, and classification) and the De-identification from key identifiers (with an audit log).
PHI Re-ID Risk Scoring
Description: Use the risk scoringAssistants in the same Eclipse™ IDE with FieldShield to apply peer-review algorithms that evaluate the likelihood of re-identification in attack scenarios involving prosecutors, journalists, and brokers, based on the uniqueness and separation values of quasi-identifiers in the data.
Expert determination
Description: Application of professional expertise in the use and assessment of IRI risk score reports. Learn what an expert determination by an experienced HIPAA re-identification risk statistician entails.
PHI generalization
Description: Apply FieldShield „Smart Noise“ and/or generalization features to blurred quasi-identifiers in the data, making them less identifiable (and perform better), but still usable for research and marketing.
Legal counsel
Description: Gain a regulatory and procedural perspective on HIPAA compliance/certification in this context and advice on insurance coverage and breach mitigation from an expert in the field.
