CSV files

Convert and process delimited data faster.

Challenges

Index, Fixed-Position, LDIF, XML, Weblog, and many other file formats are incompatible with spreadsheets, database loaders, and other applications that require delimited data files in comma-separated values (CSV) format. Conversely, files exported in CSV format may need to be processed and reformatted into other file formats for mainframe, tape, data exchange, and reporting applications.

Solutions

IRI offers CSV and other file management features for its entire product line. Select as needed and determine that the IRI Voracity platform everything below contains.

Use IRI NextForm or IRI Voracity, NextForm is used to convert files from CSV to other formats (e.g., LDIF, ODBC, XML, Text, etc.) or from other formats to CSV. NextForm also supports field-level data type conversion and record layout remapping.

NextForm file names also work in SortCLProgram in IRI CoSort and Voracity. This means that you can reuse your metadata in rapid data transformation and reporting jobs when upgrading.

The SortCLProgram in CoSort or Voracity can

  • CSV files transform (e.g., sorting, joining, aggregating, cross-calculating, etc.)
  • CSV files to other file formats convert and create CSV files from these formats.
  • Report from CSV file sources

with a simple 4GL for layout and manipulation definitions or a powerful free GUI on an Eclipse basis.

Process one or more input files in CSV and other formats. Create detail, summary, or delta reportsChange Data Capture and Slowly Changing Dimensions from CSV sources. Pass pre-sorted, filtered, and converted subsets to BI tools, Database Loaders or other applications.

Use IRI FieldShield or Voracity, to protect fields in productive CSV files with encryption, masking, etc.

Use IRI RowGen or Voracity, if you need test data in CSV file formats. RowGen uses the same layout metadata as CoSort (SortCL) and NextForm, so that you can easily switch between generating test data and transforming real data.

All of the above (and many more!) use cases are performed through the same simple 4GL job script metadata for file layout and field editing. Automatically create, graphically modify, and team-share these metadata assets in a free, familiar IDE on Eclipse™ called IRI Workbench.
