LDIF files

Convert and Process LDAP Data Exchange Information

Challenges

LDIF is an exchange format for representing Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) contents and update requests. LDAP directories contain information with similar attributes that are organized both logically and hierarchically; e.g., a name-sorted address book with appended e-mail and telephone data.

Advanced LDAP deployments can today use Domain Name System (DNS) names to structure the hierarchy, with the underlying entries representing a multi-valued tree.

While LDIF records can contain large amounts of customer and transaction information, they are not stored in a format that most applications can import or process. Most tools that support LDIF files cannot process them efficiently in large quantities.

Solutions

IRI offers LDIF and other file conversion capabilities in various products. Select as needed:

Use the free (Lite)-Version of IRI NextForm, to convert files in LDIF format to other file formats (e.g., CSV, XML, text, etc.) or from other formats to LDIF. NextForm also supports field-level data type conversion and record layout remapping.

You need the ODBC version of NextForm to directly edit the tables in the target database.

NextForm document definitions work in the same SortCL-Programs that the IRI CoSort Data manipulation package and the larger IRI Voracity Support a data management platform. This allows you to reuse the metadata you produce in NextForm when you upgrade to another IRI product, enabling rapid data transformation, cleansing, masking, standardization, reporting, and more.

The SortCLProgram in IRI CoSort or Voracity can

LDAP data transform (e.g., sort, merge, aggregate, calculate, etc.)
Files in LDIF to other file formats convert and create LDIF files from these formats.
Clean up, Enriching and standardizing data in LDIF files to improve their quality.
Masking Sie PII oder andere sensible Felder in LDAP-Dateien.
    Report from LDIF file sources

with a simple 4GL for layout and manipulation definitions or a powerful free GUI on an Eclipse basis.

Organize one or more input files in LDIF and from other formats. Create detail, statistics, or delta reportsChange Data Capture and Slowly Changing Dimensions) from LDIF sources. Pass pre-sorted, filtered, and converted subsets to BI toolsDatabase Loaders or other applications.

Use IRI FieldShield, to protect fields in LDIF production files with encryption, masking, etc.

Use IRI RowGen, if you need test data in LDIF file formats. RowGen uses the same layout metadata as NextForm and SortCL, so that you can easily switch between generating test data and transforming real data.

All functions above and to the left are in the data management platform IRI Voracity available, which is based on Eclipse and by CoSort is supported by SortCL or Hadoop engines. Look here the IRI Product Feature Matrix.
