Acceleration and Protection of DB2

UDB Download, Query, Load, Masking & Testing

Challenges

As a DBA using DB2 Universal Database (UDB) on Linux, Unix, or Windows (LUW) – or DB2 on iSeries or mainframe – you will eventually encounter problems:

Large table download and upload speeds

Complex query or reorg performance

Database migrationor -replication

„Change Data Capture“ (CDC) and „Slowly Changing Dimensions“ (SCD)

Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

Secure, relational test data generation

SQL procedures can be difficult to code and still take too long even after optimization. Online registrations are too slow, and offline registrations are difficult to set up.

PII data must be protected at rest and in transit. Creating referenceless test data is cumbersome; it typically requires access to production data that may not be available or represent future requirements.

Solutions

IRI Software addresses DB2 UDB performance bottlenecks and security concerns in production and testing:

The IRI FACT (Fast Extract) Software accelerates the unloading of UDBs. FACT uses native SQL syntax and DB2 drivers to transfer table data in parallel to flat files. With FACT, you can accelerate archiving, migration, ETL, replication, reorganization, and reporting.

FACT is also supported for database data migrations to and from DB2 on LUW, which are in the IRI NextForm DBMS Edition or the IRI Voracity platform be carried out.

The program SortCL in IRI CoSort and Voracity processes table data via ODBC – or even faster with flat files outside of UDB (via IRI FACT) – for high volumes:

Index Pre-sorting for DB2 Load Operations
Data transformation (Filtering, Sorting, Joining, Aggregation, etc.)
Delta Reports Change Data Capture / Slowly Changing Dimensions
Data protection (Column encryption, masking, etc.)
    Database Migration and Replication Operations

The „CoSort Load Accelerator for DB2“ seamlessly improves the speed of bulk imports into UDB and ESE (v5-9) by up to 6 times compared to the DB2 Load Utility. „CLA4DB2“ replaces the internal sort library on LUW platforms with a compatible sort routine. Holding tables in lookup and join orders, thus improving query times, is much easier with CoSort.

Combine SortCL with FACT and DB2 Load in the IRI Workbench GUI for Voracity (Based on Eclipse™) for fast offline reporting, ETL, database migration, and data replication.

Use the specially designed data-centric protection product FieldShield from IRI — or the parent CoSort Product or the Voracity Platform — for the static (SDM) or dynamic data masking (DDM) of PII and other vulnerable data within DB2 on any platform connected via ODBC and JDBC.

Use assistants in their shared IRI Workbench frontend to the data in your tables to discover and classify and then automatically and globally apply appropriate masking functions to each column, based on your business and data privacy compliance requirements. During these processes, various reporting and audit logs are created to help you validate search for orders and verify masking.

Use IRI RowGen, if you need secure, intelligent, and referential integrity test data for DB2… especially when you don't have access to real data. RowGen analyzes the DDL to generate and populate any number and size of target tables while preserving the structure and relationships of production data.

Please note that all these products – from FACT about CoSort be NextForm and from FieldShield bis RowGen - in the IRI Workbench support and most in the subscriptions of Voracity Platform are included.
