Optimize Oracle operations

Unload, Load, Reorg, Query, Masking and Test

Challenges

Oracle users face performance bottlenecks, data movement, and security issues like these:

· Loading or unloading large tables

Routine maintenance operations (reorgs)

Complex queries or „outer joins“

Data (Warehouse) Integration (ETL)

· Table migration or replication

· Data discovery or classification or ERDs

Data masking or encryption

Access and execution control, monitoring, or auditing

· SQL transformations or reports

·Test data population or backing

Typical performance optimization solutions for Oracle include complex query analysis, histograms, custom tuning, and/or expensive appliances. Oracle column encryption can be cumbersome, and its PII masking and test data features are limited or typically available from overpriced mega-vendors or niche software providers that may not meet associated governance requirements.

Solutions

Individual IRI software products (or the larger IRI Voracity platformaddress these issues. IRI-Services are also available for custom requirements.

Start with the ERecognition and Classification of Oracle and Other Source Data in the free IRI Workbench GUI, which can also manage Oracle and many other databases simultaneously.

Then get ready for:

Use IRI FACT for fast extraction from Oracle. Parallel offloading of data from very large Oracle tables to flat files in seconds. Flat files are the fastest and easiest way to put large amounts of data into play, and the only portable exchange format for the integration, migration, and backup and recovery of large amounts of data.

Use IRI CoSort, to speed up Oracle loads:

Sorting by the primary index key of the target table
Pipelining the output to an SQL*Loader operation with the „DIRECT=TRUE“ parameter.
    Rebuild indexes after loading

Pre-sorted and direct road transport are the fastest method for bulk table population.

Use IRI Voracity as faster, more cost-effective ETL Alternative to ODI and OWB ELT operations.

Value lookups and joins are faster when data is in key order. Frequently reorganize tables into:

Maintain rows in order of most frequent, long-running queries.
    „Reclaim Table Space“
    Create indexes faster
    Speed Error Checking via Views

The Offline Reorg Wizard in the IRI Workbench (Eclipse GUI) automates the specification and use of FACTCoSort and SQL*Loader for mass execution of Oracle table reorganize.

Use this assistant or any of its components to optimize table reordering without impacting database users. With the space and time savings from offloading transformations and automating SQL*Loader, you can easily create and maintain multiple query tables.

Use the Data Source Explorer and the IRI NextForm– or CoSort SortCL-Jobs in the IRI Workbench to select and partition the data you want for the Migration and Replication needed. Discover sources and define metadata. Data capture, targeting, and mapping in the GUI. Define new data stores and formats ad hoc or en masse. Consider format masks, keys, and other constraints.

Oracle column encryption can be cumbersome to implement. Accelerate data security and privacy law compliance faster – with more options and auditability – with IRI FieldShield or Voracity, which includes FieldShield. FieldShield offers a comprehensive and database-independent set of easy-to-implement Protective functions at the column level, such as encryption, masking, and pseudonymization. Invoke FieldShield individually or from database applications to protect data at rest or in motion through queries.

SQL transformations and reports perform sorting, joins, and grouping by processing them within the database. This is an inherently inefficient place to perform these operations on large datasets.

Online users are experiencing degraded query performance as the database adjusts its internal resources to handle the heavy data transformation. The SQL procedure that defines these jobs is also lengthy and complex.

The same jobs that in IRI Voracity ETL workflows developed or directly in the explicit 4GL of CoSort's SortCL were written, run outside the database much faster! Read this page, if you are using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) or Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB).

The IRI Workbench (Eclipse GUI) Environment supports SortCL operations for single-passTransformation and Reporting or fast Handover OBIEE and other BI tools (including direct ODA feeds to BIRT in Eclipse). Use FACT (for extraction) and SortCL instead of or alongside Oracle for the Integration and reporting large amounts of data.

Release Oracle for storage and retrieval, what it was designed for…. release the money you saved for Exadata.

To quickly populate huge Oracle DBs or ETL operations with secure, realistic data, use IRI RowGen or Voracity, This is a translation of the German text: "that RowGen includes). RowGen uses your data models to create structurally and referentially correct" Test data to automatically generate and populate. It is not necessary to access or mask production data to achieve data realism. Alternatively, you can automatically populate production subsets with the Subsetting Assistant in the IRI Workbench, which comes with RowGen, FieldShield– or the Voracity license is expiring.
