The IRI Workbench GUI

Create, modify, and run job scripts (anywhere)

IRI Workbench provides a simple visual interface and ergonomic modules for designing and executing all IRI Software. In this graphical IDE, based on Eclipse, you create, modify, share, and run IRI tools' simple, portable job scripts and the cutting-edge, portable Workflows of the new IRI Voracity platform.

Job scripts for all IRI products (except FACT, CellShield, and the DarkShield API) are based on the IRI CoSort Sort Control LanguageSortCL). SortCL is a fourth-generation language (4GL) designed to be self-documenting for English readers. But with IRI Workbench, you don't have to learn the programming language.

Design Options

Graphical Assistants for job and metadata creation automatically generate scripts and display them in a color-coded, syntax-oriented editor supported by a dynamic outline and linked via right-click menu dialogs or diagrams for visual job modification and field mapping, etc. Learn more about the new Job Assistants and other product-specific capabilities in IRI Workbench here:

If you like to create scripts, you can write, modify, and validate your parameters with your own text editor or the syntax-aware editor in IRI Workbench. Changes to scripts are dynamically reflected in the job description, GUI dialogs, metadata of the broader job flow (project), and mapping diagrams. Therefore, there are a number of places where you can make changes that will propagate automatically or with a few clicks.

It is important that your job artifacts (rules, .scljob scripts, .sql, etc.) are stored in folders (no database required) and can be searched and compared using integrated Eclipse functions. Additionally, you can manage and share these metadata in repositories like Git for security, version control, etc. (more information can be found here).

Deployment options

You can execute jobs that you create in IRI Workbench directly through the GUI on your local or remote system(s), or from any command line, batch script, 3GL application, CI/CD (DevOps) pipeline, or workflow automation environment.Job Scheduling).

Premium Voracity users with data in HDFS can many of the same jobs also seamlessly ...run in MapReduce2, Spark, Spark Stream, Storm, or Tez... So you don't have to learn Hadoop languages either!
