Legacy Sorting Migrations

Are you looking for a faster and more flexible alternative?

Challenges

Many operating systems and programming languages include sorting functions. Do you rely on the sort that comes with your platform or application? If so, are you satisfied with its performance and flexibility? Have you wondered if a more powerful sort can be easily integrated via „plug and play“ in your current environment?

Or perhaps you rely on mainframe JCL steps that copy, sort, merge, select, sum, or list ICEMAN or ICETOOL report operations that need to work on Unix, Linux, or Windows. Sort parameters for (z/OS) MVS and VSE are cryptic and functionally limited. They are also incompatible with open systems and not expandable.

In either case, the challenge lies in finding the closest substitute or the most seamless available migration. You also need the fastest possible run times, exactly the same output results, a reliable vendor dedicated to the success of your transition and production processes, and a target platform that simultaneously modernizes and provides the associated data transformation, reporting, conversion, and security options.

Solutions

IRI has continuously Sort– and has developed, delivered, and improved sorting migration technologies for open systems platforms. Over 40 years of innovative performance and functionality development on „open systems“ mean faster production of the same results and new metadata for simultaneous data transformation, migration, protection, and reporting.

IRI CoSort contains free, automated sort job converters for z/OS MVS and VSE sort parms. These utilities successfully update many third-party sort functions and translate JCL parms into functionally equivalent CoSort Sort Sort Control Language (SortCL)-Program.

Another interesting option is the Proxmial Systems Corporation (PSC) proxy coupling technology, where CoSort (called PSCsort in this case) jobs are seamlessly executed from DF-SORT-Parms on z/OS, but automatic I work in z/Linux IFL.

In addition to both unloading methods, CoSort offers comprehensive functionality for data transformation, reporting, protection, and prototyping. Consider all other functions, which runs SortCL at no additional cost.

You use CoSort to convert and modernize old sorts and data.
